Papaya, Puerto Rico. Papaya: Carica papaya, CaricaceaeA tropical fruit, widely grown as a backyard tropical tree but increasingly important as a commercial fruit. Family consists of two genera, Carica and Jacaratia. Genera were so varied that they were hard to place in a family, finally Caricaceae developed to include both genera.
