Concept

-Create a Smart Home based on a personalized bluetooth signal emitted from a cell phone.

-Create a fully functional network of nodes to control the lighting in multiple rooms.

Discussion

- Use a Wired Ethernet cable for communication between the

PC and each node

  • If successfully completed, switch to a Wireless Network

  • using 802.11b

  • Bluetooth Class 2 Device

    • Transmits a signal between 10-15 meters

    • Strong enough to be detected in the room of the user but

    • not too strong to be detected by nodes in different rooms

  • Design a device for each node that will block the bluetooth

  • signal from coming through a wall

    Discussion

    • Photo sensors placed in each room to detect light in a room

    • - During the day, a light would not be needed when the

    • user walks into a room

    • - Manual switch will also be available for the user for cases

    • when more light is needed

    • Recognizing the bluetooth signal at each node is very

    • important for our system to work properly

    • Configure the Graphical User Interface for the

    • Workstation to communicate with the Host PC
