  2. Sault Ste Marie The two cities are joined by the International Bridge, which connects I-75 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Huron Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Shipping traffic in the Great Lakes system bypasses the rapids via the American Soo Locks, the world's busiest canal in terms of tonnage passing through it, while smaller recreational and tour boats use the Canadian Sault-Ste Marie Channel. The city's downtown sits on an island, with the locks to the north, and the Sault Ste. Marie Power Canal to the south.

Sault stemarie– lessons learned • 3 hour POP’s are challenging and should be given lower probabilities even in short range predictions. • A well developed vort-max and its surface circulation will usually spawn one wave of organized showers to the south of the circulation center. Precip amounts are typically a quarter of an inch or less (unless there are convective elements) • Clouds and showers at night will keep temperatures in a narrow range, especially in a site surrounded by water.
