  2. ACC State Chapters There are 50 Chapters Each are individual corporations They carry out the Mission of the National ACC, test bed for ACC initiatives The Governor from a state serves as the President of his State Chapter for three years

  3. ACC Board of Governors (BOG) We are the foot soldiers We are the members' voice  We are elected We are 66 members that ensure bidirectional communication

ACC has 40,000 members…and is growing! • International membership and growth • Member groups make the College feel smaller • 1,200+ member volunteers • 150+ College committees/12 councils/9 sections/ task forces/work groups, etc. • State Chapters • Board of Governors • Volunteer 60,000+ hours of time annually

Advocacy/Health Policy • Smoke-Free Legislation (West Virginia, Mississippi, Kentucky) • Scope of Practice (California, Nebraska) • Tort Reform (Michigan, Illinois, Washington, Ohio) • RAC Audits (Virginia, Florida) • Insurance Preauthorization (South Dakota, Pennsylvania) • EHR Implementation (Utah) • CPR/AED Training Legislation (Connecticut)

  9. Lifelong Learning and Professional Development • Collaboration around live educational events/meetings (PA/DE, DC/MD/VA, etc.) • All-member conference calls (Texas) • Accredited Chapter CME • Lifelong Learning Portfolio

Science and Quality • STEMI (Maryland, South Dakota, Puerto Rico, Arizona, Virginia, West Virginia, Utah, South Carolina, Montana, Mississippi) • AUC (Delaware, Tennessee, Iowa, Illinois, Oregon) • SMARTCare(Wisconsin, Florida) • Hospital to Home (South Carolina, South Dakota, Michigan, Alabama) • Million Hearts (Wisconsin, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia, Texas, South Carolina, Montana, Mississippi, California) • Disparities in Care/credo/CardioSmart(Mississippi, Texas)

Membership/Community • Wisconsin called 2012 a year of “growth and renewed participation” • Northern New England said the mood is optimistic with “an appropriate measure of concern” around integration • Alabama notes an “active and engaged membership” • Descriptor words include: Apathy, Guarded Optimism, Angst, Somewhat Depressed, Wary of the Future, Cautious, Disengaged, Unresponsive
