  4. Activity 2.2: Collection and processing of current and historical data (1/3) according to the DOW document • Data collection (following the requirements of the protocol and data availability): • Collect historical data (Axios and northern part of the Danube marine region) • Acquire new data • Satellite and in situ data collection for wetland parameters using remote sensing • Satellite and in situ data collection for sea level monitoring and mapping sea bed morphometry • Telemetry and in situ data collection for monitoring marine quality and ecosystem parameters

  5. Activity 2.2: Collection and processing of current and historical data (2/3) according to the DOW document • Process data for wetland parameters using remote sensing (outputs according to the protocol): • Habitat maps • Water surface and inundated vegetation maps (at high and low water level) (from Landsat 5, MODIS, ASAR) • Indicators describing the state of the ecosystem (landscape metrics or NDVI time series)

  6. Activity 2.2: Collection and processing of current and historical data (3/3) according to the DOW document • Process data for sea level monitoring and mapping sea bed morphometry: • … maps • Process data for monitoring marine quality and ecosystem parameters: • Time series analysis (if available in test sites) • maps • Chl-a (from MERIS or MODIS), TSM (from MERIS), SST (from MODIS)

  7. Workflow AUTh BEC DDNI OBIBSS Collection of Project Data (tables, grids, shapefiles) Design & Development of Geodatabase

  8. Technical Specifications • Microsoft SQL-Server • Efficient • Minimum downtime • Single-file database • ESRI ArcGIS Server v10 – ArcSDE • Allows data re-projection • Easy import of Shapefiles • Easy import of tables (XLS) • ArcMap is used to define how the data will appear on the web-GIS • ArcGIS Server exposes data using REST Services, which are easy to consume

  9. Geodatabase Capabilities • Update Capabilities • Our database supports the update of existing tables in terms of data but not structure • Web Capabilities • Our database may queried over the internet using the ArcGIS Server REST Services • Processing and search capabilities • Our database supports search and query capabilities, but remote users will not have the capability of adding new data or altering/deleting existing data

  10. Geodatabase Environmental Data Remote Sensing Data Mean Sea Level and Bathymetry Data Basic Cartographic Basis Data Types & Data Integration Environmental Data Remote Sensing Data Mean Sea Level and Bathymetry Data Basic Cartographic Basis All data referenced in a common Coordinate Reference System: Converted to a webGIS compliant data format: World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84) Shapefiles and Raster Images

  11. Data Collection Partner AUTh: Data Contribution (1/8) • Mean Sea Level Models • - Resolutions 1 arcmin and 5 arcmin • Tide Gauge Stations • - Station List • - Measurements • Digital Topography and Bathymetry Models • - Resolutions 30 arcsec, 5 arcmin

Activity 2.4: Testing of system components and geodatabase in test sites according to the DOW document • Evaluation of the geodatabase and the system components in the test sites under real situations: • Level of functionality? • Test the update capabilities of the geodatabase. • Test the usage of the geodatabase’s data into the sites. • Test the queries options of the geodatabase. • Error and bug report • Functionality report

  30. Workflow AUTh BEC DDNI OBIBSS Collection of Test data Validation and update of the data included in the Geodatabase (update where possible)

  31. Collection of Test data • Data not already included in the geodatabase • Data acquired from in-situ measurements or other sources for our test-sites • It is preferable that new data are compatible with existing data included in the Geodatabase • (format, units, quantities, etc.)

  32. Geodatabase Validation and Update • Comparisons of existing data in the Geodatabase with the newly collected data or data originating from other sources • Update of the Geodatabase through a web-interface that will be developed • (only for compatible data and for certain types)

  33. Partners Checklist for D2.3 (1/2) • Collect data • Process data • Perform validation (e.g. comparisons) of data that were incorporated into the geodatabase • Upload the processed data to the project FTP • Inform the responsible persons for submission • Submit a document containing a detailed description of a) the data, b) the processing and c) the validation (statistics, figures, etc.)

  34. Partners Checklist for D2.3 (2/2) • After all partners submit their contribution, these will be incorporated into the Deliverable, which will be circulated for review Deadline for submitting your contribution 15 November 2012 !
