  • Environmental governance:
    • Work towards improvements in the overall water and sanitation management system (PAL)
    • Pursue efforts to set up administrative structures in charge of water management at national an local levels and improve coordination between different ministries in charge of water resources management (MOR)
    • Strengthen administrative capacity of authorities in charge of water resources management (MOR)
    • Pursue efforts to improve water supply and quality, in rural areas, with a view to meeting WHO standards (PAL)

  • Prevention of deterioration of the environment:
    • Prevent pollution of waters, in particular through enhanced water pollutant emission reporting, drawing on the experiences within the WFD (ISR)

    • Exchange of information between on best practices on water reuse (ISR)
    • Adopt a financial strategy for water management issues (MOR)
    • Implement the National water resources plan (TUN)

- Lebanon & Egypt

- Assist in a strategic way for prioritization of needs and related aid support

- Develop Financing strategy with the support OECD / UNEP-GPA

3. IWRM ACTIONS DEVELOPED :

- Transboundary waters, national IWRM process

- MED-EUWI /WFD Joint Process

4. FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROVIDED :

- Contract for the Monitoring and Support Unit (RMSU) of the MEDA Water Programme
