Class G • Uncontrolled - starts at the surface and extends up to the base of the overlying controlled airspace (2,500/1,700/1,000’ AGL). • VFR Weather Requirements: Visibility to the ground; clear of clouds and: • Day 1,000’ CIG, 5 KM Vis. • Night 2,000’ CIG, 5 KM Vis. • Equipment Required: None (See AR 95-1 Table 5-2/MEL). • Clearance Required: No. • NO IFR ALLOWED. • Max Speed: 250 KIAS. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

Class F • Uncontrolled - extends from a maximum of 2500’ AGL to ground in vicinity of uncontrolled aerodromes with IFR flight operations only as long as IFR app/dep are performed. • VFR Weather Requirements: (When F airspace is active.) • 1,000’ Above/Below 1.5 KM Horizontal (BCC). • 5 KM Visibility. • Equipment Required: • VFR - Appropriate communications equipment. • Clearance Required: No. • IFR/VFR allowed. • Max Speed: 250 KIAS. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

  7. Class E • Controlled - starts at 2,500’ AGL and extends up to the base of the overlying controlled airspace (10,000’). May start at 1,700’ or 1,000’ AGL around certain Class D areas (A & B sector extensions). • VFR Weather Requirements: • 1,000’ Above/Below 1.5 KM Horizontal (BCC); 8 KM Visibility. • Equipment Required: • VFR - (except local) 1 VHF, 1 VOR (at night) , & transponder (night or above 5,000’ MSL/3,500’ AGL). • IFR - 2 VHFs, 2 VORs, 1 ADF, 1 MODE C TRANSPONDER, 1 DME, & (for ILS appr.) 1 ILS/GS with indicator, 1 MKR BCN. • Clearance Required: IFR Yes, and VFR at night in civil controlled airspace with VNM flight plan. • IFR & VFR allowed. • Max Speed: 250 KIAS. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

Class D • Controlled - starts at the surface; individually tailored vertically and horizontally. • VFR Weather Requirements: • Civil/USAF - 1,500’ CIG, 5 KM Vis., clear of clouds. • Military - Day 1,000’ CIG 5 KM Vis; Night 2,000’ CIG 5 KM Vis. • SVFR - Day 1,000’ CIG 5 KM Vis; Night 2,000’ CIG 5 KM Vis. • Equipment Required: IFR - same as Class E. • VFR - Civil: VHF; Military: Comm.. equipment IAW military regs. • Clearance Required: Yes; IFR or VFR. • IFR allowed when control tower is open. • Max Speed: 250 KIAS. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

  11. Class CAirspace Around Int’l Airports • Controlled - resembles the upside down wedding cake; individually tailored sectors. Does not exceed FL 100. • VFR Weather Requirements: • 1,000’ Above/Below 1.5 KM Horizontal (BCC). • 5 KM Visibility. • Equipment Required: IFR same as Class E; VFR - Gyro direction indicator, turn & slip or artificial horizon, clock w/timer, VOR, VHF, Mode C transponder. • Clearance Required: Yes. • IFR Allowed. VFR call 5 min. prior to entry for clearance. • Max Speed: 250 KIAS. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

Class CAirspace Above 10,000’ MSL • Starts at 10,000’ MSL and extends up to infinity. • VFR Weather Requirements: • 1,000’ Above/Below 1.5 KM Horizontal (BCC). • 8 KM Visibility. • Equipment Required: IFR same as Class E. • Clearance Required: Yes. • IFR Allowed. VFR not allowed without clearance. • Max Speed: None. 7th ATC Flight Detachment

SPECIAL USE AIRSPACE • Restricted Areas (EDRs) mainly include military training terrain; extend from the ground up to varying altitudes, and are predominantly active Mon - Fri and in some cases permanently. • Specific restricted areas with the additional TRA (Temporary Reserved Airspace) serve military exercise flights. These areas are active Mon - Fri, their vertical limits are variable, and the lower limits are partly below FL 100. They are established for uncontrolled VFR flights in single and two seat combat jet aircraft. Military aircraft are not separated from each other. • Danger Areas (EDD) exist over the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and should be avoided in the interest of safety. • See AP/2A for listing & effective times. 7th ATC Flight Detachment
