  10. a. Paul spoke of the important things that are, investing in those things which are ETERNAL, rather than that which is here today and gone tomorrow.

  11. b. Believers should invest PRAYERFUL time in the presence of God, for His choice of a mate for them.

  12. 3. Marriage is COMMENDED of God.

  13. III. JESUS – THE BRIDEGROOM.

  14. A. His LOVE.

  15. 1. The Bridegroom is looking for a bride who CHOOSES to love Him.

  16. a. We must love Him, by CHOICE.

  17. B. His PRICE.

  18. 1. We were paid for by His BLOOD, which was shed for the entire world.

  19. a. The price He paid was His OWN life.

  20. IV. THE COURTSHIP.

  21. A. The FIRST love.

  22. 1. There are times in many of our marriages when our first love needs to be RENEWED.

  23. a. It is possible to become so BUSY with the Lord’s work, that we forget the work of the Lord.

  24. B. The BETROTHAL.

  25. 1. Like the betrothal period, we have made a PROMISE to the Lord to be present at the marriage supper of the Lamb, which is to take place in the future.

  27. A. WE prepare.

  29. Chapter TwoTHE HUSBAND

  30. I. THE HUSBAND – THE HEAD.

  31. A. Authority demands RESPONSIBILITY.

  32. 1. Leadership is going before, showing by EXAMPLE; dictatorship is ordering, and having the command obeyed by force, if necessary.

  33. 2. The godly husband LOVES his wife.

  34. 3. The husband is SPIRITUALLY responsible for his wife and family.

  35. a. He should TEACH and minister the Word regularly, as head of the home.

  36. b. The father is responsible for the family WORSHIP in his home.

  37. c. The father trains his family in the proper principles of GIVING.

  38. d. He must set the pace for ATTENDING church regularly.

  39. e. Spiritual leaders must maintain a right ATTITUDE.

  40. 4. The husband is responsible for the MATERIAL needs of his wife and family.

  41. a. A father is not only the spiritual leader of his home, but he is also the PROVIDER of his family.

  42. b. Overseeing the family budget, and maintaining FINANCIAL integrity, is the husband’s responsibility.

  43. 5. The husband is responsible for the EMOTIONAL welfare of his family.

  44. B. The WEAKNESSES of the man.

  45. 1. The male gender has a tendency to be PROUD.

  46. 2. LUST is a part of man’s old nature.

  47. C. The husband, a figure of CHRIST.

  48. 1. The husband is the HEAD of his wife, in the same way that Christ is the head of His Church (Bride).
