  2. What Is Knee Arthroscopic Debridement? Knee Osteoarthritis, one of the most common knee conditions suffered by patients around the world is initially treated with non-surgical options. And when these non-surgical options fail, Orthopaedic surgeons go forward with surgical options like total knee replacement which proved out to be the most efficient replacement procedures around the world now. However, in few cases there are treatment options that happen to provide relief from the pain and discomfort brought by the osteoarthritis condition, Knee Arthroscopic Debridement is one of the few such treatments performed by knee replacement surgeons.

  3. Knee Arthroscopic Debridement:  Being the most common form of arthritis, Osteoarthritis breaks the cartilage in the joints causing pain and swelling, over time cause the joint to wither away. In case of osteoarthritis to the knee, the cartilage affected can breakdown where the bits and pieces of tissues are left around the affected joint further increasing the inflammation and making the knee problems even severe. In addition to the withering of the cartilage, the breakdown further intensifies the pain and sometimes knee arthroscopic debridement can help relieve the pain caused by this condition.

  4. Knee Arthroscopic DebridementProcedure: Knee Arthroscopic Debridement is the procedure performed by the orthopaedic surgeon where the jets of fluid sprayed to remove the debris of bone or cartilage at the joint and then, the bone of the joint that has become an impediment (misshapen or loose) are surgically removed. Sometimes the inflamed synovial tissue is removed or irregularly grown cartilage is smoothened out depending upon the knee condition of the patient. The orthopaedic surgeon carries out this procedure inserts a small incision near the knee through which a tiny video camera and surgical tools to make a proper assessment of the knee joint and sort out the problems caused by arthritis.

  5. When is Knee Arthroscopic Debridement recommended for arthritis patients? Being a less-invasive surgical process, orthoscopic surgery involves fewer risks than knee replacement or knee arthroplasty procedures. Knee arthroscopy reduces the surgical insult and accelerates the post-operative rehabilitation for the arthritis patients who aim for painless mobility. Hence, it can be considered an attractive surgical attractive alternative for elder patients, with early osteoarthritis, no misalignment of the knee and aim for pain relief. An outpatient procedure, Knee Arthroscopic Debridement can take up to 7 to 8 weeks for complete recovery.

  6. When is Knee Arthroscopic Debridement recommended for arthritis patients? Through Knee arthroplasty is considered an efficient process for treating low-grade osteoarthritis and knee joint problems like meniscal tears, it is not as much recommended for knee arthritis patients suffering from medium to severe knee arthritis and knee replacement surgery still happen to be the best procedure for most of these cases. However, only an experienced orthopaedic or knee replacement surgeon can only make the decision. If you are suffering from knee arthritis then we recommend you to consult a knee specialist as soon as possible. If you live in and around Mumbai and are looking for the best knee replacement surgeon in Mumbai, then you can contact Dr. Niraj Vora.
