  2. Welcome to Montgomery County, MD Valerie Ervin: Vice President of Montgomery County Council and Chair of Miss Africa USA Scholarship Pageant 2010, welcomes all delegates and guests of the pageant to Montgomery County July 22- 25 2010

  3. 2010 Event Schedule • Thursday July- 22 – 2010 : Arrivals • Friday July 23 2010 in the morning: Official Tour of the White House • Friday July 23rd: Miss Africa USA: Banquet and Awards Ceremony with African Ambassadors, Diplomatic Core, Montgomery County Officials, Sponsors and media. Contestants will Present their humanitarian Projects for Africa and The United States. • Saturday July 24th : Miss Africa USA Pageant Finals and Coronation Ceremony open to the public. • Sunday July 25th 2010: Breakfast with Queen and Departure.

About Miss Africa USA Pageant • Miss Africa USA Pageant was founded in 2005 as a platform for young African women in the United States of America to showcase their culture, talent and beauty on a global stage. • The Pageant has awarded up to $20,000 in scholarships to winners over the last 5 years, the funds have helped with tuition and other needs for those in college in the United States. • Each Participant is empowered as a good will ambassador for their communities in Africa and the United States, enabling them to help underserved communities through humanitarian efforts. • All contestants are challenged to take on a micro project to help the needy. They are expected to network and find the resources to carry out the project. • Competition areas include: cultural presentation, public speaking, fashion, beauty, talent, confidence, poise and knowledge of current affairs on African and global issues.

  6. Organizers of Miss Africa USA • Miss Africa USA Pageant was founded by Lady Kate Njeuma, a Cameroonian American in Georgia. The pageant is produced by Spotlight Africa LLC, a company Registered with the State of Georgia, formerly known as The Shrine of Africa LLC. • The Charity Program of the Pageant is supported by African Women’s Development Foundation USA (AWDF-USA) a 501c public charity registered with the State of Georgia.

Demographics of the Pageant • Contestants are aged between 18 – 29yrs • The pageant is open to contestants from all 54 countries of Africa who reside in the United States of America, some are US citizens with African parents or students who came to the US for further education. • The audience is very diverse consisting of Africans, Americans and friends of Africa. • The Pageant has been aired to Millions of Television viewers in African Countries and through other TV networks in the United States of America. • Several Magazines and News papers have covered the pageant in the past.

Miss Nyasha Zimucha: Miss Africa USA 2008-2009 Miss Nyasha spent her reign volunteering for several non-profit organizations in the United States, supporting under served communities in Africa and in America. • She volunteered with Russell Simmon’s Diamond Empowerment Fund providing education for children in her homeland South Africa. • She volunteered with Soles4Souls, providing shoes to thousands of children with no shoes in Darfur Sudan. • Volunteering with Concern USA, kicked off the Fun Run in New York City which raised over $100,000 for the charity last year. • Nyasha also started the Global Citizen Campaign to fight against Xenophobia in South Africa. • Nyasha volunteers with Habitat for humanity, helping to build homes for the homeless in the United States of America.

  11. Miss Mfonobong Essiet : Miss Africa USA 2002-2008 Miss Essiet embarked on a Mission to Provide hospital Supplies and Equipment to hospitals and clinics in Nigeria. She was able to network with organizations in Miami Florida, raised funds and completed her mission in 2009 with a container load of equipment and supplies worth up to $450,000, distributed to 6 hospitals in Nigeria.

Miss Teizue Gayflor: Miss Africa USA 2006-2007 Miss Teizue Gayflor was crowned in 2006, she went on a mission to Liberia and met with the Vice President after which she conducted the Following: • Promote Education of children in Liberia • Supplied ceiling fans to congested classrooms in schools. • Spread the message of Peace in a country coming out of war • Volunteer in orphanages helping children who lost their parents in the war in Liberia.

Queens Under served Communities in North America • Nyasha Zimucha volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes for the homeless. • Nyasha also hosted the 2008 Arts for Life event, introducing the art to children from underserved communities in Miami FL, supporting Russell Simmons Arts for Life Movement.

Queens Helping Under served Communities in North America • Miss Mfonobong Essiet volunteers for Miami Children’s Foundation, mentoring young children. • Delegates in the running for the 2010 pageant are volunteering in various non-profit organizations across the US such as : Keep a Child alife, March of Dimes and more.

  19. The Future • All pageant finalists are required to submit a micro project benefiting under served communities in Africa and or the United States of America and globally. • All pageant Finalists are supported by the Charity partner of the pageant system: African Women’s Development Foundation USA, (AWDF-USA) a non profit 501 c3 organization registered in the State of Ga. • All Finalists and the Queen serve as Good Will Ambassadors.
