  3. 2013 Incentives & Number of nominations • Incentives • Certificate of Commendation • Trophy (up to $200 in value) • Cash award of $500 per individual or $800 per team (2 or more persons) • Number of Nominations per College • Each College may submit a maximum of 5 nominated staff. Each member of a team nomination, if any, will be consideredas one (1) nominated staff. • There is no limit to the number of nomination in each category.

  4. 2013 Eligibility Criteria • ITEteaching staff & Section Heads in the AXS scheme (currently serving withinITE). Nomination for Section Heads should only be in areas related to Student Care and Teaching and not in leadership; • Not on No Pay Leave at the point of nomination andaward; • Min 3 years of service as at 31 October 2013; • Not awarded previously within the last 5 years; and • Not awarded more than 3 times in entire teaching career. • Nominations for this Award must be based on staff contributions which have been well-conceptualised, facilitated and/or carried out, and some of these contributions must be sustained in the last 3 years .

  12. 2013 Completion of Nomination Template – Section III • The write-up (max 300 words) shouldhelp the Awardee Selection Panel and AC* decide whether your nominee should be recommended: • clearly illustrate how the nominee stands out from the majority of ITE lecturers • highlight outstanding qualities and contributions/achievements of the nominee, in the following areas: • Passion, enthusiasm and commitment; • Innovativeness, holistic and/or systematic approaches; and • Exceptional impact on the development, learning, performance, and/or well-being of students in relation to his/her peers, • * The write-up will be used as citation in the paper for AC to approve the recommendations by the Awardee Selection Panel • How should it be written to help the panel and AC decide?

  13. 2013 Completion of Nomination Template – Section III Example of Write-Up (for Teaching Excellence) XXX is nominated for her creativity and resourcefulness in adopting and developing a wide repertoire of approaches and strategies to cater to different instructional situations and student needs. For example, First sentence captures key reasons why the staff is deserving of theaward in the nominated category

  14. 2013 Completion of Nomination Template – Section III Example of Write-Up (for Teaching Excellence) - cont’d • To ensure that students are able to integrate cognitive, procedural and affective skills to perform the various competencies, she introduced problem-based learning into the XXX module and adopted ITE Pedagogic Model for the YYY module. • To enhance students’ ability to integrate relevant competencies to handle varied workplace situations, she leads a team in promoting simulation-based learning. 20 scenarios have been developed, currently being used on about 350 students. • To help students grasped abstract theoretical concepts she provides students with hands-on experiences building and manipulating models (e.g. cell molecule, mechanism of robotic arms). Crossword puzzles are also used in her theory lessons to encourage active learning. • To stimulate students’ interest in learning while allowing them to appreciate real-life applications, she adopts experiential and collaborative learning such as getting students to work in groups to explore relationship between water and electrical safety through manipulation of a simple water sensing circuit. She has also inspired numerous students to further their education at the Polytechnics. Besides being a champion of innovative teaching practices, she is a well respected role model for fellow colleagues eager to share her innovative practices and experiences. Over the past 3 years, she conducted 6 sharing sessions within her department on innovative teaching strategies and student development. Last year, she presented a paper on XXXX at the XXX conference. (281 words) • Further support for the first sentence, with concrete examplesof impact on students, and/or influence on the professional development culture of colleagues, if any.
