Purpose of Training • Many teachers have expressed an interest in learning to use the internet to find resources to include in their instructional program. • The internet is a powerful tool that enables you to correspond with family and friends through email. • You can shop, get the news, join clubs, make reservations, and research countless interests all via the World Wide Web!

  3. Overview • Learn what the internet is and how you can benefit from it • Show you how to access the internet through an internet browser • Practice basic navigation functions • Search for various topics • Bookmark your favorite websites • Access your Groupwise email account

  4. What is the Internet? • An international network of computers • Started in 1970s as way for military, universities, and business to share info

  5. What will I find on the WWW? • Information on people, places, and ideas • News, weather, traffic • Companies and organizations • Goods and services • Radio stations

  8. Buttons to use Click here to return to your home page. Click here to stop a page from loading. Good when the computer freezes or other problems happen. Click here to “refresh:” A site that changes a lot and you want the latest version (www.cnn.com). Click here if you moved back a site but now want to go forward. Click here to go back to a previous site.

  9. Bookmark Your Favorite Websites! Step 1: Select “Favorites” Step 2: Click on “Add” Step 3: Press “OK”
