Why consolidate cataloging in Connexion? • Simplify training and use • OCLC can add features, or introduce new services, to the widest possible group of users all at once • Help keep costs of information low
WorldCat search enhancements • New indexing • Full Boolean operators • Browse many indexes (not limited to title) • Phrase and keyword indexes • Keyword searching of CJK script data • No derived CJK indexing • New interface • New search screen layout • Multiple terms per intake box • Command line: all indexes except derived and ISBN require index label
WorldCat Unicode with MARC-8 scope • EACC for CJK records • Updated from v. 2.1 to v. 4.0 • Not all Unicode 4.0 “Han” scripts supported • Validation of Unicode vs. EACC mapping
