OUR UNITS at work Grade 6-8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Talent Search Classic Upward Bound Upward Bound Math and Science College Assistance Migrant Program Student Support Services - ASPIRE We continue to seek additional funding to help us with our Pre-college Initiatives- 1.3 million annual funding working with public schools 49% of participants have earned college credit hours Pre-College Pipeline

  3. OUR UNITS at work Orientation Will develop an orientation for transfer students and develop more online student services. Will continue Data mining so that we can make informed decisions about our students. Funding Source and staffing Orientation fee of $50.00charged to all FTF Staff: A .75 FTE and 30 student orientation leaders. All DOS student offices and other University-wide Units assist during Orientation.

  4. OUR FACILITIES at work New Housing!- CASA BELLA Build learning communities to further enhance the residential experience. Build on the natural partnership between on-campus living and the academic curriculum. - Example: Freshmen cohorts in Music, Physics, Athletes, Scholars, and CAMP. Offer space for faculty and students can meet outside the classroom setting. Funding Source and Staffing: Rental fees 3 Full time employees & 18 student employees 3.5 Physical Plant employees .80 Security Officer

OUR UNITS at work Student Success Center • Academic and Career Counseling • Support for Student Athletes • College Enrichment - CAMP and ASPIRE • STING program • Cooperative Grant with El Paso- $100,000 • Pathway to Graduation- Juniors and Seniors Funding source and staffing: Student Services fees, grant fees Staff: Counseling: 7 FTE and 3 students Grants: 8 FTF and 19 student employees Remediation fee: (STING) 1 FTF and 18 students Pathway to Graduation Initiatives • Our Gradation rate is measured by the progress of the First Time- Full Time –BA seeking student for each academic year. • Fall 2009 class - 429 students in this category. Currently, 218 are still enrolled. We aim to reach out to this population and help them make the right choices so that they graduate in 4 years. TRANSFERmation- mentoring program to focus on transfer students’ transition to UTB.

  6. OUR STUDENTS at work Fall 2011 Student Staff Data By hiring 228 students we engage them in our work and on our campus. Students get hired at REK, Residence Life, Student Union, Student Health, Student Success- SGA, Orientation, CAMP, ASPIRE, Scholars, Athletics and STING. SAP: Fall 2011 data Hrs. attempted -13.20 and hours earned 12.50 GPA – 3.10- with a 94% completion rate.

  7. Student Affairs Data Our data confirms the national body of research which stipulates that students who are engaged on campus are retained at a higher rate.
