  2. General informations • Project title : carol turner branch library • Location: Morrow, Georgia • Architects: Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam • Building area :10,000 square feet • Project cost:$760,000 • Completed in : 1991

  3. Its surroundings • The library is set in a horse pasture • Bounded by a small shopping center , a county road , subdivision houses

  4. PROCESS • “the best view is up. The scheme reflects this feature with glass and views high up and enclosing walls down low. Other influences are more abstract, distant connections, such as the headquarters library, the county courthouse, the close-by neighborhoods Rex and Ellenwood and the cardinal points of the compass. Along with the property lines, the lines of influence from these entities give form to the building.” (msm)

  6. SITE PLAN • The building plan is an asymmetrical , skewed dogtrot • The CENTER of the building and site is marked by a vertical element . It signifies the center of a new reality for the branch library (A+U)

  7. FLOOR PLAN • It contains a dividing breezeway/corridor with rooms on both sides • Into the corridor is we have the circulation desk and visual access to the 2 entrances , the restroom, the public room entrances
