  2. Individualized Writing Plan • Every day in class, you will need to set a goal for yourself for your paper • The focus is on individual accomplishments and personal potential • NO ONE is “done” until next Friday, 2/24!

Individualized Writing Plan • Choose two goals to complete by the beginning of class Tuesday • Write the goal numbers on the front of your research folder • If you do not have that step completed when you arrive to class the following day, you will receive a zero in the grade book • On Tuesday, you will select one goal for Wednesday, etc…

  4. What step are you on? MANDATORY STEPS: 1. Finish researching and reading sources 2. Complete FULL outline (including “buckets,” body paragraphs, AND specific evidence from primary text 3. Complete full draft, including conclusion 4. Quote blending (using all 3 types) 5. In-text citations (paraphrases and direct quotes) 6. Works Cited 7. Polish MLA formatting

  5. What step are you on? OPTIONAL STEPS: • Draw more conclusions about historical evidence. • Make connections to literature more specific • Deepen and focus analysis; add more commentary and explanation – look for missed opportunities for analysis • Improve logic and clarity; find and revise points of missed logic and explanation. Add connections and transitions between ideas • Revise for conciseness, removing wordy and fluffy phrases. • Strengthen diction, revising informal or dull language • Eliminate “to be” verbs and strengthen verbs • Change passive voice to active voice • Eliminate ambiguous words: this, that, things • Parallel structure for thesis and topic sentences
