  1. Recent Attacks On INEC Facilities, Worrying, Unjustifiable — Prof. Yakubu

  2. The independent national electoral commission INEC has condemned all the recent attacks on its facilities in the south-east as well as south-south of the country. Furthermore, it has described that the development is unjustifiable as well as worrying too. If you are looking forward to reading latest trending headlines in Nigeria, then you are at the right place. Here you will find different news from all over the Nigeria, hence, you should keep an eye on this website.

  3. According To The News…Then again, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who is the chairman of the commission has further announced this on Wednesday while an emergency meeting that too with the Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, at the INEC headquarters in Abuja. Apart from that, according to him, the unfortunate events of all the recent past have challenged the Commission. And then again it has undermined the commitment so as to improve the electoral process. Again stated: “The spate of arson and vandalism targeting the Commission’s facilities and property has become deeply worrying.”

  4. Unfortunately, this has increased since the 2019 parliamentary elections, but has now turned into a crisis. “In the past three weeks, three of our local government offices in EssienUdim, AkwaIbom State, Ohafia, Abia State, and Udenu, Enugu State, were set on fire by unidentified people. Last Sunday, May 16, 2021, our state office in Enugu suffered another arson and destruction in which parts of the building were searched and several vehicles were destroyed. And more of our facilities are systematically attacked and attacked.

  5. Just the last night, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, again two more offices in the Ezza North and Ebonyi counties of Ebonyi state were burned to the ground. Moreover, they found no casualties and the damage was to the real physical infrastucture as well as the election papers as a whole. “Certainly these attacks are no longer freak events, but seem rather orchestrated and aimed at INEC.

  6. In fact, it is clearly not justified that the aggression can determine all of he Commission’s ability so as to organise the elections and affect the country’s electoral process. Apart from that, the Commission’s Institutions have served the local communities for the most fundamental aspects of democratic governance and that is election. “Therefore, it cannot be justified to target such vital national assets and electoral repositories that have taken time and enormous resources to obtain.

  7. Then right after replacing these facilities in the recent economic situation will surely be a major challenge. And it is detrimental to all the electoral services in the same communities. All these facilities are not at all limited to voting, in fact it has been used for all other essential electoral activities such as coordinating stakeholder engagements, registering voters, and educating as well as raising awareness among voters and this has been told by the INEC chief, Prof, Yakubu.
