Frederick Oladeinde has told in a statement that the diversion was pretty essential in light of the need so as to address the deteriorating situation of the primary access road that leads to the Independence Tunnel in Maryland. He again said that the repairs will decrease the overall traffic jams that the motorists along with the corridor often experience.

He said a temporary set of traffic lights will be installed to control the flow of vehicles that will ply the overpass.

"Road users from Ikeja and Inbound Surulere are advised to use the Mobolaji Bank-Anthony Way to connect Maryland and access Ikorodu Road Inbound Surulere." He said a test run of the traffic management system will begin on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, to test the above traffic rerouting plans before the set date and make adjustments if necessary.
