  1. The American Revolution For Kids Only  By: Malik Mathurin

  2. Pg.1 Once upon a time, in the land of the free, America there once were a group of people called colonists. The colonists started to become mad because of a king that once ruled, named King George the second. This group called Britain had a fight with this other group called the France in 1754 and 1763. King George the second had to make sure that the colonists and American Indians would keep from trying to fight each other. He drew a line so that the two groups could not fight each other but it made it unfair for colonists to grow plants. The colonists also were mad at King George the second because he made them pay extra which is called taxes for the things they needed. The colonists were so mad that they tried fighting the people who collected the taxes they played. What does collect mean? T means to take an required item.

  3. Pg.2 The very next day, King George II started getting the colonists more angry. Citizens would “Tar and feather” the tax collectors. “Tar and feathers” is putting tar, which is like a hot drink poured all over your body, than they throw feathers on you. King George II came up with a new rules called the “Quartering Act.” The Quartering Act allowed solders, which are people who fight in war, to live in people’s houses. The colonists were angry because everyone has a few rights and their privacy rights were violated or you can say broken. Rights are a few rules that everyone has that people can’t break. One of the reasons why colonists would “tar and feather” tax collectors is because the colonists felt as though their lives could be compared to slaves. Also, other people felt as if it were unfair for colonists to pay so much taxes. “Tar and feather” was very painful for the tax collectors even though they were doing their jobs.

  4. Pg.3 The next day after, a very bad thing happened. This event was called the “Boston Massacre.” A group of people one day said some very horrible things to some British soldiers. One of the soldier got very angry and kilt the poor citizen. The citizens and soldiers started a huge gun fight and a lot of citizens was kilt, sadly. The soldiers say they fired back at the citizens because they heard the word, “ Fire!” Their captain said that he did not order them to fire but, some people said they heard him say it. The captain said the people were instigating them to fire at them. What does instigating means? It means to push someone into getting them to do something. When one group of people have done something wrong to another, they get a trial. They can be innocent which means they did nothing wrong or, guilty which means they did something wrong that goes against them.

  5. Pg.4 The very next, next, next day the people called the colonists, were happy drinking tea one day. Then out of no where, a British announced how they have passed the Tea Act. The Tea Act allowed the British to start selling tea. The colonists felt that it would stop them from making money and selling tea. They dressed up as Indians and dumped the boxes of tea in the ocean. The British decided to gain control over Boston, the place some colonists lived. The colonists than wrote a letter to a group called the First Continental Congress expressing their problems. The did this to receive their rights. The guy on the hundred dollar bill wrote a letter to a British lord explaining the problems and how it was getting worse. What’s the guy’s name on the hundred dollar bill? Benjamin Franklin!

  6. Pg. 5 In the year of 1775, another terrible thing happened. The two groups of people, called colonists and British, once again had another brawl. A guy named John Barker was on the British side and wrote what “happened” in his diary. He says that the colonists fired at them first than the fight started. Do you believe that the other group of people shot fired first? Other guys on the colonists’ side say the British fired at them first when they turned around. In a historical fiction book, the author wrote that his father gets fired at first, by the British. Now kids, who do you think fired at who first?

  7. Pg. 6 The very next year in 1776, a magical warlock ( a man witch) named Thomas Paine flew to America one night. He ate some very god magic pizza and it made him fall asleep. No one in America liked him so he had start getting nightmares every night. The next morning he woke up and remembered what his nightmare was. The world had a huge war because of this island called Great Britain took control over Americas. Thomas started writing a book which later on was named, “Common Sense”. The book was about how the people on America should have their independence from the little island Great Britain. Once he published it, the book got famous over the years. Thomas Paine caused America to start thinking about gaining independence from Great Britain.

  8. Pg. 7 The very next day in the year of 1776 a guy named Thomas Jefferson woke up to a few friends. They asked if he could write the Declaration of Independence for them. The Declaration of Independence only was pointed to rich white men. Black slaves, Indians, and women is who it wasn’t pointed to. This was unfair for those people because most of the things written in the Declaration of Independence didn’t apply to them. Apply means like made for or for certain people or even things.

  9. Pg. 8 The very next, next, next day the colonies and Britain were still fighting. The colonies needed someone to lead them in their battle. The first president and the man on the dollar bill named George Washington agreed to be their leader. The colonial’s army was called the “Continental Army.” The Continental Army at first lost by the British and retreated. Retreat means to run away from a battle, back to your camp. Christmas of 1776 than came. George Washington and his men surprised attacked the British and the British gave up. The Britain's army was bigger than the Continental Army so, how did they win? The French actually joined with the Continental Army and gained an alliance. An alliance is when two people or groups team up together because they both dislike another person or group. The United States than gained their independence and gained back their land. The end!
