  1. Year 8 summer assessmentTopic - holidays Revision list 1 Past tense 2 Present tense 3 Future tense 4 In all 3 tenses you need to be able to talk about the following things – where who with method of travel howlong activities opinion

  2. Speaking assessment • You can prepare your answers for part of the speaking assessment at home • I will not mark your answers before the exam so make sure you double check things in your vocabulary book and your exercise book. • Check individual words either in a dictionary or at www.wordreference.com • The second part of the assessment will involve you answering questions that you have not prepared (scary, I know, but you’ll be fine!)

  3. The idea is to describe a past holiday using picture prompts like these of your own. The 4 x questions on the next page are designed to help you plan what to say. Ideally you will deliver it all as a presentation without being asked individual questions.

  4. Year 8 Spanish summer speaking assessment 1. ¿Adónde fuiste de vacaciones el año pasado? (Where did you go on holiday last year?)  2. ¿Con quién fuiste? ¿Cómo fuiste? ¿Cómo fue el viaje?(Who did you go with? How did you get there? What was the journey like?  3. ¿Qué hiciste allí? (What did you do there?  4. ¿Qué tal lo pasaste? (Did you have a good time?) 

  5. Prepare answers of 2(or 3) sentences for each question that include the following: Level 2: short, simple (one or part phrase) responses to 3 of 4 questions. Pronunciation is approximate but meaning clear.Level 3: answers of two phrase length in 2 of 4. Pronunciation is intelligible in general. Several complete sentences.Level 4: answers presented as one mini-presentation - pronunciation generally accurate, sentences mostly have correct verb forms. Opinions & reasons included with linking words.Level 5: Pupils do as for level 4 and delivery is quite fluent, pronunciation generally accurate, sounds like the speaker is meaning what they say confidently.Level 6: pupils include some additional present/future details in their presentation or in one of the possible follow up questions. In answering spontaneous questions, they make themselves understood, even though there are some mistakes.NB: Half levels are also possible. Enter marks on marksheet as follows: Level 5 = 19, 4.5 = 17, 4 = 15, 3.5 = 13, 3 = 11, 2.5 = 9, 2 = 7

  6. Writing assessment • You can prepare your answers at home, but I will not mark them. • As for your speaking assessment, double check them thoroughly! • Think about which level you would like to achieve and check that you include everything necessary to get it!

  8. Prepare answers of 2(or 3) sentences for each question that include the following: Level 4: Attempted with some success. Some correct verb forms used in most answers – full sentences that communicate, even though some spelling errors persist. Level 5: Pupils do as for level 4 - verb forms correct, in at least 2 of 3 tenses. Additional details added with sound spelling. Several other past verbs other than ‘fui’ and ‘fue’ included. At least one opinion included.Level 6: Ability shown in 3 tenses with some consistency. Some longer sentences with a range of vocabulary. Reasons and opinions more frequently included.NB: Half levels are also possible. Enter marks on marksheet as follows: Level 5 = 19, 4.5 = 17, 4 = 15, 3.5 = 13, 3 = 11, 2.5 = 9, 2 = 7
