  2. Introduction Welcome to the Life Cycle of a Butterfly WebQuest! While on this WebQuest you will be learning the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly. You will go through four different tasks to represent each cycle of a butterfly. You will start off as an egg and by the end you will become a beautiful butterfly! At the end of this WebQuest you will be able to identify the four stages of the life cycle of the butterfly and be able to tell two facts about each stage. At the end of the WebQuest there are pictures of different butterflies from different parts of the world for you to look at and enjoy. Good Luck! POOF!! You are now a BUTTERFLY EGG!!

  3. The Task • Your task will be to take a journey through each stage of the life cycle and learn different facts about each one. After you have finished your journey you will need to make a book that shows what happened on your journey. Your book will contain the life cycle of a butterfly and two facts about each one. • When you finishthis WebQuest you should be able to: • Name the four stages of a butterfly’s life cycle • Be able to tell two facts about each stage

The Process You have started on your journey through the life cycle of a butterfly and you are now an egg, click on the link below to learn more about yourself (don’t forget to gather two facts from each stage so you can make your book later!): The Egg You have just hatched and you are now a larva! Click on the link below to learn about your new stage! The Larva You are getting ready to become a butterfly but you are not there quite yet.   5. Now that you have taken your journey through the life cycle of a butterfly it is time to make your book! Your book should include the following items: Cover Page: Please include your name, the title of your book, and a drawing of your favorite butterfly from the following website: Beautiful Butterflies First Page: Draw the first stage of a butterfly’s life cycle and write two interesting facts about it. Second Page: Draw the second stage of the butterfly’s life cycle and two interesting facts you learned about it. Third Page: Draw the third stage of the life cycle and write two facts about it. Fourth Page: Draw the fourth stage of the life cycle and write two facts about it. Fifth Page: Please draw or write anything else you have learned about butterflies. Use as many pages as you need! When you finish your book read it to as many classmates as you can! Process Continued

  6. Evaluation There are three things that you will be evaluated on for this WebQuest. You will get three individual grades and the average of the three will be your final grade. The three objectives are correct sequence of life cycle, interesting facts, and creativity.

  7. Conclusion You have done a great job taking the journey from an egg to a butterfly. You now know the four different stages of a butterfly’s life and a couple of interesting facts about each stage. Below I have included a couple more links that are both fun and interesting!
