Catholic Social Teaching An Introduction and Overview: Scriptural Foundations Initially Exploring the Themes For RCIA programs and faculty in-services, the scriptural roots of Catholic Social Teaching plays an important role. This seems to be the piece that they most need. 2. What is Catholic Social Teaching? Collection of teachings designed to reflect Church’s social mission in response to challenges & injustices of the day. Rooted in Jesus’ example, biblical values & reflections on Christian tradition. Calls all members of the Church, rich & poor alike, to work to eliminate the occurrence and effect of poverty, to speak out against injustice, and to shape a more caring society and a more peaceful world.
