  1. Big Green eMachine October 2010 concept pictures on http://www.flickr.com/photos/chintsa/sets/72157624222360330/

  2. Goals of the Big Green • Around Chintsa there are 3 classrooms with around a dozen of computers to teach IT to children / adults where there is no access to computer / internet • There are other places around to teach IT but there is no classroom and many people cannot come to the IT classroom • The Big Green will be a remote mobile computer school • The Big Green should be autonomous regarding electricity with solar panel to work 5 hours a day • Initial donations come from Hungryman to be able to start the project, many thanks to them

  3. Different parts to focus opening roof storage solar panel Battery(opposite side) Office space

  4. Office space door Hinged Table for 4 Fixed table for 1 Table for 4 passenger Bench for 2 Bench for 2 engine box driver Bench for 2 Bench for 3 Table for 2 Table for 3 Fixed table for 1 Hinged Table for 2 Hinged Table for 3 More informations on the document « Big Green – Office Space »

  5. Storage (1/2) • Space for : • Wireless switch (wi-fi) • Router (3G/GPRS or Satellite) • Printer • Power management console for solar • Possible storage space for laptops during transit 1 case for 4 laptops Removable to take off the Big Green when parked Router, printer, wifi need to be locked and removable

  6. Storage (2/2) • If the laptops could be stored in an alternative place during transit, the central area could remain open; creating a more airy feel during teaching. • The space within the two side areas should be sufficient for other needs.

  7. Opening roof (1/3) • Current roof height is 165cm • More height is required to be able to teach for 5hrs • Solution to move the whole roof seems to be complicate • Bars to be removed = structural risk, but already done on Big Green brother (same truck with an opening roof) • Protection to install as there are risks to knock your head • Need water-tightness

  8. opening roof (2/3) Opening roof Bars to keep in place Bars to move New place for bars moved Bars to change (increase strength) Bars to remove Space where there is the engine box = no opening roof FRONT

  9. Solar cells opening roof (3/3) Solar cells Gas lift Solar cells Solution for tightness Bars like the roof (welded)

  10. Battery • Good space to install could be below the floor on the right side (opposite side to the engine battery)

  11. Solar panel • Possible with financial support • Study structure requried • Heavy : 170 kg • Rotate on the roof to be more efficient (~30°) • Take the whole length of the Big Green (no water tank) • Can be fixed with 2 pistons

  12. Remarks • It would be possible to get more laptops outside of the Big Green (later phase) • Fixation on the back to avoid movement / balance when moving inside the Big Green
