  1. Public Libraries: An Investment in Our Community

  2. More Important Than Ever We put dollars back into the community by helping small businesses and local organizations, getting people back to work, and providing vital resources for everyone in good times and in bad.

  3. Value Beyond the Library Walls A comprehensive study by the Urban Institute in 2006 concluded that “public libraries are positioned to fuel not only new, but next economies because of their roles in building technology skills, entrepreneurial activity, and vibrant, livable places.”

  4. The Facts • Reports indicate a connection between public libraries and less crime, higher property values, improved literacy and lower unemployment. • Studies show that most people believe public libraries improve their quality of life. People even consider the public library when choosing a place to live. • Research shows that a high percentage of people purchase goods and services from local businesses before or after visiting their local library.

  5. A Strong Library = A Strong Community What we do directly affects the growth and well being of this community. We provide: • Support for small businesses, schools and civic organizations. • Opportunities for entrepreneurship, retraining and continued education. • Help with early and adult literacy. • A dependable and effective option for job seekers.

  6. A Sound Investment Research indicates that public libraries provide a solid return on investment (ROI). • For every dollar of public library funding, four times that amount—if not more—is put back into the community.

  7. We Need Your Support While we do the best we can with what we have, we are struggling. Without adequate funding, we cannot maintain or enhance all of the critical services we provide. The community is counting on us. We are counting on you! Help us help our community!
