  1. RuralopmentA CEFE Approach for Better Rural DevelopmentTransforming Farmers into Farmerpreneurs

  2. Ruralopment The Map A typical rural landscape where the groups get their farms

  3. Ruralopment The Tree Many little steps change mindset and performance

  4. Ruralopment I hear, I understand, I can?The difference between knowledge and competenceor: KASH in Training

  5. Ruralopment Planning 1st season A lot of initial information is digested and money has to be used well. Decisions must be made: which crops, why support, own initiative???

  6. Ruralopment Why those Choices? Group representatives discuss their arguments and feel that they are not good enough, yet.

  7. Ruralopment Work at the Farm Ploughing, every season - nothing is for granted and farm life isn’t easy.

  8. Ruralopment Work at the Farm Harvesting, every season - it has to be quick

  9. Ruralopment First Calculations In 1st season it needs 2 hours and many discussions after 3rd season it is a matter of 10 minutes with no mistakes

  10. Ruralopment Best of the Season All are winners but the best gets a price

  11. Ruralopment Credit or Donation? A group lacks funds for next seasons expenses. Shall it ask for a donation with remote chances or ask family and friends for a credit? The credit is taken as the better alternative!

  12. Ruralopment The Government Tractor You can get it for free – but it takes time while you have to work and chances are low. After 2nd season no one goes for donation of this kind anymore. Much better to use own strengths.

  13. Ruralopment Learning from Failures The participants discuss their results and reasons for success and failure

  14. Ruralopment Dry Season and Water Without water no harvest in dry season! Groups are digging a well

  15. Ruralopment Drip Irrigation The groups can get material for water tank and pump. But who wants it has to attend a training in drip irrigation.

  16. Ruralopment Impact of Learning Groups can chose to attend a training course – and have better harvest. But then they must attend a mini-course and break heads.

  17. Ruralopment Cooperative Talking about cooperation is easy. But can it work out?

  18. Ruralopment Sharing the Learning Points All results are analysed, discussed and published. In CEFE Ruralopment there is no teaching. The participants learn with each other.

  19. Ruralopment The Tree again Within 4 seasons, the groups learnt to make right decisions and improved results more than 10 times. Starting capital was $800 per group. Ending cash was $20,484 on average.

  20. Ruralopment Presented by Eberhard Peter Baerenz Anja Vrandecic Alberto Capati
