  2. Outline for Today’s Session • Warm up • Oral activities in class • Practical activities • Evaluation and feedback

Why use oral activities in class? • They encourage learning a language in a natural, real context. • They encourage students to predict meaning and ‘get the gist’ of what is being said. • They increase the students’ exposure to English • They provide a meaningful purpose to English. • They give students a chance to improve their listening skills • They are motivating and educational. • They tie in with the Common European Framework which makes an emphasis on developing communication skills.

  4. Possible drawbacks… What are some possible drawbacks to using oral activities in class? • Students end up using their mother tongue to do the activity • Students feel uncomfortable speaking English or lack fluency • They can get noisy
