  2. 25-Words? An Introduction to the 25-Word Short Story

  3. What is...? • A 25-word short story is a very short piece of writing which requires the writer to tell the whole story in as few words as possible. • It originated on Twitter – where you can only type 140 characters, so you must choose the right words

  4. ...Continue... • Stories can be funny, sad or dramatic. • They usually make people think. • They cannot be more words than 25, but they can be less words. • Let’s take a look:

  5. KWL • A KWL is an investigative technique where you write down what you Know, what you Want to know, and after, what you have Learned. • We will be doing the first two stories together, then the third one will be done in your groups.

  6. Story #1 He tasted the salt of sea and sweat; heard the crash of cannons and the screams of men. The black flag had spelt their doom. Evan Schriver

  7. Story #2 Humiliated; beads of sweat that drip from my brow become cleansed as my head enters the bowl. Flush. Evan Schriver & Paul Montague

  8. Story #3 I’m sorry, but there’s not enough air in here for everyone. I’ll tell them you were a hero. J. Matthew Zoss

  9. Story #4 (if time permits) With both his head and his heart bowed, he remembered the sacrifices of his grandfather - the bravest man that he ever knew. Bill Ferriter
