Middle school camp! A.K.
Before Camp We were going to Sovereign Hill! Everyone was exited. We had to get to school before nine o’clock because that was when the bus left. I got there at eight thirtyish. It was extremely cold, I was wearing my mums snow jacket (with a jumper underneath!) When we finally got onto the bus the teachers were losing count of all their students! Everyone was saying their last goodbyes out the window as we got ready to go to Sovereign Hill.
Play Lunch We ate play lunch at a park. I ate tic tocs! It was yummy! Then we got back into the bus. In the bus Diuwke and I made the news with my camera. It was about tornadoes and stuff. We had to sit in the front because we both get bus sick.
Lunch We had lunch at a museum. We learnt a lot about the gold rush and the eureka stockade. We also learnt about people like peter layler and the judges. I was Doctor Carr. I was a doctor on the Ballarat goldfields. I didn’t get chosen to stand up at court. After court we went to look at some paintings. Some were in London, some were of Australia and we had to try to notice the different lights and colours in the paintings of the two different
At sovereign hill. After another long ride on the bus we finally arrived at sovereign hill. We sat down on a big oval with a tree in the corner. Then we went through a building and down a hill. We went in another building to play, The Gold Game.
The Gold Game. The gold game is where you have to find gold in the mine and earn money so we can buy our licences. My team did not win.
Gold panning We learnt how to gold pan. Here’s how you do it. Step.1. Get a pan.
Gold panning Step.2. Fill it up with stones from the creek and then wipe off the top layer.
Gold panning Step .3. keep wiping of the top layer.
Gold panning Step.4. then, when you’re left with just 1 teaspoon, look for the gold in the bottom of the pan. Then you’re done.
Eureka stockade In the 1850’s the eureka stockade happened. There was gold found in Vic! Life was hard for the miners, they had to pay for licences gold of not. That was only the main problem. One day the miners were sick and tiered of this and made their own flag. They burned their licences and made a promise that if someone got arrested, everyone would help them even if it means they would die. It was the start of democracy. At the stat, peter Lalor was their worst enemy, and at the end, they were asking him to join the government. Funny!
