Benefits to CA Members • Builds awareness and credibility for the Alliance and participating Members • Low-cost way to identify organizations in need of consulting assistance (CA lead generation) • Learn detailed information about company needs through the application process (Member lead generation) • Potential follow-on work to assist with exploration or execution of ideas generated from the Consultation (Participating Member lead generation) • Organizations see us in action (Participating Member lead generation) • Builds connections with other CA members through a work-based experience • Continue to build a collaborative spirit among members • Project has many roles enabling participation by many members

  5. Coordinating Team • Organize the competition • Solicit for team members and coordinate their work. • Gatekeepers of the mission and core values. • Participate on the other teams to ensure continuity

Planning Team Organize the capstone event Create an event program to attract business attendance Develop strategies to promote the event and work with the Promotion Team to deploy Create a list of strategic invitees to bolster exposure Actively work with the Promotion Team to pursue sponsorships for the event Develop a brochure for the capstone event

  7. Promotion Team • Work with Marketing to promote the competition and solicit applications • Promote the capstone event/winner announcement • Promote the competition as sponsorship opportunity • Promote the consulting process and results/testimonials 

  8. Selection Team • Review incoming applications • Create short-list of finalists for Consulting Team consideration • Manage logistics and communications to applicants regarding in-person interviews for finalists

  9. Consulting Teams • Conduct interviews with the 3 finalists in their subject area and select the winner • Provides free consulting to the winning organizations using a defined process

  10. Consulting Team Selection • Send notice to the membership requesting participants for 2-3 teams. Requires completion of a short application. • CA Board reviews applications and selects 2-3 teams. • Teams must have at least 3 seasoned consultants and may have up to 6 consultants total.

  11. Capstone Event All applicant companies, assisting Chambers, and business leaders invited with members. Event will be widely publicized as open house to meet the Consulting Alliance and the winning companies. Winning companies are announced at the celebration. A major networking and PR opportunity for the CA and all of its Members. Create tables of consulting specialties around the room for prospects to meet relevant members.

  12. Consultation Process • Consultants request and review specific background materials from the winning company. • Hold a one-day briefing session at the client offices. • Next day - consultant team maps out everything heard, identifies opportunities, clarifies issues and develops a proposal of idea/suggestions. • Optional – ask for a little more data or follow up questions and finalize the recommendations. • Prepare a presentation describing the short and long-term opportunities and the rationale. • Conduct three-hour meeting the following week to present key findings and opportunity hypotheses to the client team. Discuss feedback. • Client completes an evaluation survey and provides testimonials which CA can use for promotional purposes. Project ends.

  13. Planning Team Time Commitment • Design the announcement of winner, capstone event, promotion and any follow up (2-3 meetings and offline development) Can be done in 4 meetings : 4 - 6 hours, plus a few hours in between.

  14. Promotion Team Time Commitment • Work with Marketing to promote the competition and develop promotional materials (2-3 meetings plus time in between) • Develop on-going media opportunities • Document the process Can be done in 2-3 meetings – 3-5 hours, plus hours to perform individual tasks.

  15. Selection Team Time Commitment • Review all applications and score. (3-6 hours) • Select “short list” in each category. (1-2 meetings) • Set up logistics for the interview (3-6 hours for the team overall, divided among the members) Can be done in 2-3 meetings – 4-6 hours, plus hours to review applications.

Consulting Team Time Commitment • Conduct the interviews to select the finalist (1 day including a prep meeting) • Meet to prepare an agenda and materials request (1-2 hours) • Read the materials over a week (3-4 hours) • Meet to finalize the agenda and roles; review with client and revise (1-3 hours) • Meet with company for briefing; internal brainstorm (2 full days) • Come back the following week to present (1/2 day) This would be a 4 – 5 day commitment.

Measuring Success • 20 CA members participate in the project • Visibility to at least 25% of business leaders in the community • Receive at least 20 applications for the competition • At least two members get follow-on business • CA gains at least 10 viable business leads • Gain 10 new members within three months of project completion • At least 125 people attend the Anniversary • 100% of the winners write testimonials • Winners gain a list of actionable items and implement 3 - 6 of them within 3 months of consultation • Members, applicants, winners, and media all report a positive impact • 100% enjoy working on this together
