  2. Location The continent that Nebraska is in is North America. Nebraska is in the Midwest region. Nebraska is bordered by South Dakota, Iowa ,Missouri ,Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. South Dakota is north of Nebraska ,Iowa is east, Kansas is south, and Wyoming is west. The Missouri river also borders Nebraska.

  3. Fun Facts • Bird: Western Meadowlark • Animal: White tailed deer • Fish: Catfish • Bug: Honey Bee • Flower: Goldenrod • Nebraska is the 16th largest state ,it is 77,358 Square feet and the state capital is Lincoln.

  4. Tourist Attractions • One attraction is the Henry Doorly zoo it is a huge attraction and it brings more than 21,000 people each day! There are more than 4,500 exotic animals . The zoo has habits of Asia, Africa, and South America with trees, vines, blooming orchids, waterfalls, steep cliffs, and eerie caves. There’s also a aquarium that you can see sharks from inside a clear acrylic underwater tunnel larest and longest in the world! Several Siberian tigers makes their home at the zoo. • Another attraction is the Great Plains the plains have great landscapes And are major attractions . Some landscapes are the Sand hills ,the Chimney rock, and Pine Ridge .

  5. StATE HISTORY • Before settlers arrived Native Americans called the land Nebrathka. Nebraska took its name from the Oto Native American name for the Platte river, which runs through the state. Nebrathkameans “flat water”. Nebraska also has a newer nickname and it’s the Cornhuskerstate. The University of Nebraska’s sports team the cornhuskers thought of that one. In 1900 a writer from the Nebraska state journal announced the nickname based on the states chief chop _corn. The expression cornhusker comes from the method of husking corn with your bare hand, which was very popular in Nebraska before the creation of husking machinery.

  6. Natural Resources • Have you ever wondered what natural resources are found in Nebraska? Well I know ,there are many different varitys of resources in Nebraska, some mining products are cement, gravel, and limestone. Limestone is found deep under the sand on the shore line in east Nebraska ,gravel is found about 3 to 4 feet under mud and dirt.

  7. Wildlife There are many different animals in Nebraska . Sandhill cranes are one of them. The cranes live in the Grand islands, 500,000 cranes land on the sandbars of the Platte river each year. Scientists have come to know that the large birds have been landing there for about 10 million years. The sandhill cranes say on the sand bars from Febuary to mid April. Some other animals that live in Nebraska are antelope, elk, deer, badgers, coyotes, foxes, prairie dogs, raccoons, geese, quail, cranes, bass, catfish, perch, and walleye.

  8. Famous People • Neal Hefti was a trumpet player and composer of jazz music. He wrote backround music for Batmanand was born in Omaha.(1922-) • Fred Astaire was a legand for his singing ,dancing, and acting and was born in Omaha, Nebraska.(1899 -1987) • Mari Sandoz was an author. She wrote many books about the landscapes and people in the great plains. And was born near Hay Springs.(1896-1966) • Gerald R. Ford was a U.S. presidant (1974-2006) born in Omaha.
