  1. College Readiness Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations

  2. What does it mean? Applying past knowledge to new situations is using your past experiences to solve current life implications (conflicts, problems.) It is basically learning as you go. If you make a mistake, you learn from it and work to not make the same mistake again.

  3. Why is it important? Applying past knowledge to new situations is important because knowledge can help you grow as a person by learning from past mistakes, for if we don't we are doomed to repeat them.

  4. What will teachers look at as evidence? Evidence that can be looked at by teachers to see the application of past knowledge can be seen in the improvement over time. Improvement shows how you are building off of the prior knowledge and are consistently drawing from your past learning. Something that doesn't show the application of past knowledge is someone who repeatedly asks the same questions over and over even though they have heard the answer before.

  5. What can you do to improve? One way to improve the application of past knowledge to new situations is studying. Studying helps you look back at all the things you have learned.

  6. What will it look like in future careers? In future careers taking initiative can show an example of applying past knowledge to new situations. For example, if you have a boss and have to make a coffee run and they order a specific coffee, the next time you are sent you will not need to ask because you will know from the previous time.
