  1. Find Reliable Disability Services in NSW The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support to people with disability, their families a nd carers. It is jointly governed and funded by the Australian, and participating state and territory governments. The aim of the NDIS is to support people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. It does this by identifying what disability supports someone needs in order to help achieve their goals in life. This may include greater independence, involvement in the community, education, employment and health and wellbeing. The NDIS gives people with disability more choice and control over how, when and where their supports are provided, and gives certainty in receiving the support they need over their lifetime. The NDIS is designed to help people get the support they require so their skills and independence improve over time. The NDIS offers all Australian citizens peace of mind if they, their child or loved one is born with or acquires a permanent and significant disability, they will get all the necessary support. You can also control the supports and services you purchase, by self-managing your NDIS plan. The National Disability Insurance Scheme promises to improve both the funding available for disability services and the control that people living with disabilities have over the design and delivery of their care. Supported Independent Living is assistance and supervision of daily tasks to enhance the skills of an individual with a permanent and significant disability to be able to live as independently as possible. Supported Independent Living includes supports provided to an individual in their home. SIL is funded under the NDIS through a participant’s core supports, but is not part of their flexible budget. Supported Independent Living is a quoted, agreed upon support item.
