  1. Tell me about yourself • This is the most often asked interview question. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Talk about things you have done and the skills which you could bring to the job. For example, “I am a very organized person who works well with others. I was responsible for coordinating the book drive in my town.”

  2. What do you know about this organization? • This question is one reason to do some research on the organization before the interview. Find out who started the company, what is the company philosophy and something which sets them apart from their competitors.

  3. Why do you want to work for this organization? • This may take some thought and certainly, should be based on the research you have done on the organization. Sincerity is extremely important here and will easily be sensed. Relate it to your long-term career goals.

  4. Why should we hire you? • Point out how your assets meet what the organization needs. Do not mention any other candidates or make comparisons.

  5. What is your greatest strength? • Numerous answers are good, just stay positive. A few good examples: your ability to work under pressure, your leadership skills, your positive attitude.

  6. What is your greatest weakness? • This one can be tricky but be honest. You want to try and make your weakness a positive if you can. For example, “I take on to much responsibility sometimes and need to find ways to manage my time.”

  7. Tell me about a time you worked as part of a team. This is a good time to show your skills to be a team player and an asset to the organization. Talk about strong team work skills.

  8. Describe a school-related or work problem and how you solved it. Problems will arise during the job. Now is the time to talk about your great problem solving skills. Give an example that really happened that makes you shine.

  9. Do you have any questions for me? • Always have something prepared. Examples include: What type of work would I be doing at your company once I begin; is there room for advancement over time.
