  2. Goal 1) MPCC and NCTA will assure quality programming. Goal 2) MPCC and NCTA will teach the foundational skills that lead to success in educational and workplace settings. Goal 3) MPCC and NCTA will provide ease of access to all students. Goal 4) MPCC and NCTA will increase the number of students who are program completers. Goal 5) The college consortiums will increase involvement of workforce development entities. Overview

  4. Career Academies – The MPCC Approach • Blend of high school and college level courses • Sequence of 3-4 courses • Must include a capstone course • Work-experience activities

  5. Career Academies: • Health Sciences Academy – 2009 (13 schools participating) • Business Academy – 2011 (3 schools; pilot stage) • Education Academy – 2011 (3 schools; pilot stage) • Agriculture Academy – 2012 (piloting Fall) • Information Technology Academy – 2012 (piloting Fall)

  6. Academy Completion Certificate: Issued to students who complete recommended coursework and work-related experience. Career Academies: • College credits earned in relevant, related courses • Acquisition • of introductory, • career-related skills
