  2. During today’s meeting, we will: • Review recent ERZ activities • Brainstorm ideas for addressing Goals 2 & 3 • Review information about UA/ERZ resources • Lunch

  3. Advisory Board Meetings • Be present (mentally and physically) • Be respectful with words and actions • Give yourself permission to enjoy the learning • Practice polite technology • Begin and end on time • Pull your own happiness wagon

  4. ERZ Goals • Goal #1: Comprehensive professional development • Goal #2: Rigorous, intentionally aligned P-16 curriculum • Goal #3: Mentoring for pre-service teachers, students, and in-service teachers • Goal #4: Recruit & retain highly qualified teachers • Goal #5: Parent & community involvement • Goal #6: Collaboration

NWA P-20 Task Force • Created mission statement: • To improve the transitions of Pre-Kindergarten through Post-Graduate students in Northwest Arkansas by • minimizing barriers • expanding conversations among education, industry, and community stakeholders • increasing student and parent awareness of the impact of educational opportunities and choices • addressing the changing regional and global workforce needs.

  11. Recruiting future teachers • College of Education and Health Professions Recruiter: Jake Ayo, ayo@uark.edu • Available to speak to classes and host students for campus visits • Planning Future Educator’s Day for the fall

  13. ERZ Goals Goal #2: Students in ERZ schools have access to a rigorous, intentionally aligned P-16 curriculum which incorporates Common Core State Standards and College Readiness Skills. Goal #3: Students and teachers in ERZ schools have an appropriate mentoring program to support the implementation of Common Core State Standards and College and Career Readiness Skills.
