  1. Review of Algebra and Equations

  2. ALGEBRA • Rules: • Only LIKE TERMS may be added or subtracted • When multiplying or dividing, use exponent laws • Distributive Property: • a(b+c) = axb + axc

  3. Examples • 1. x(x + 5) + 2(x – 7) • 2. 4x(x – 9) – (x – 10)

  4. Examples: • 3.

  5. EQUATIONS: The DANLAD Procedure • D – Distributive Property • A – Add like terms on each side • N – Numbers on right side • L– Letters on left side • A – Add like terms on each side • D – Divide by the coefficient in front of the variable

  6. Examples: • 1. 6(5k – 8) – 20 = 11(2k-3) + 3k • 2. -4(3 – 6d) = 9(2d – 2)
