What is XNA? • XNA Game Studio 2.0 • Microsoft XNA Game Studio 2.0 is a set of tools based on supported versions of Microsoft Visual Studio tools that allow students and hobbyists to build games for both Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. • XNA Framework • XNA Game Studio also includes the XNA Framework, which is a set of managed libraries based on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 that are designed for game development.

  4. History • XNA 1.0 – December 11, 2006 • XNA 1.0 Refresh – April 24, 2007 • Bug fixes and Vista support. • XNA 2.0 – December 13, 2007 • Networking and support for all versions of VS 2005. • XNA 3.0 – Holiday 2008 • Zune development, support for all versions of VS2008, 64-bit support.

  5. Why use XNA? • Torpex Games uses it. (Schizoid) • Your game may be published on Xbox Live • You don’t have to learn DirectX or OpenGL • You already know C# • It’s easy to use
