  2. I. Economy • Based on agriculture: • Dug basins (bowl shaped holes) to hold water. • Used a shadoof to lift water from the Nile to the basins. • Grew flax, wheat, barley and grapes

  3. B. Very involved in trade • Under Queen Hatshepsut, Egyptians traded with the kingdom of Punt, got ivory, ebony, monkeys, hunting dogs, leopard skins and incense.

  4. II. Contributions of Ancient Egypt • Papyrus was used to make: • Reed paper • Baskets • Sandals • Rafts and riverboats • Math • Number system based on 10 • Used fractions and whole numbers • Used geometry to measure land

  5. C. Calendar - 3 seasons with 120 days each and 5 special fast days. D. First specialists in medicine- First to use splints, bandages, compresses. Masters at sewing up cuts and setting broken bones Splint Compress

  6. Concluding Question • Which achievement of the Ancient Egyptians do you think had the greatest influence on the world, and why?
