  3. All Coaches, Department Staff & Student-Athletes Act with Honesty & Sportsmanship Must provide complete & accurate information to the NCAA & ND regarding any ongoing or pending investigations of possible violations of NCAA rules Ethical Conduct Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  4. Gambling Solicit/Accept a bet on any professional or collegiate team (for an item of tangible value) Provide inside information Participate in any gambling activity on NCAA sponsored collegiate or professional sports Includes bracket pools & fantasy leagues if BOTH an entry fee is required and a prize is awarded Ethical Conduct Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  5. An NCAA Violation can occur if: An institutional staff member (coach, professor, tutor, teaching assistant) knowingly arranges fraudulent academic credit or false transcripts for an enrolled student-athlete A student-athlete, acting alone or with others, knowingly arranges fraudulent academic credit or false transcripts If a student-athlete commits an academic offense (cheating, plagiarism) with no involvement of an institutional staff member & the academic offense results in an erroneous declaration of eligibility & the student-athlete subsequently competes for the institution Academic Fraud Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  6. A student-athlete, their family and friends, may not accept a benefit from an employee of Notre Dame or a representative of the University’s athletics interests (e.g., alumnus, season-ticket holder, donor) If it is not available to the Notre Dame student body or the general public – it is an extra benefit Extra Benefits Support Staff Rules Education 2010

Money, gifts, clothing, tickets for entertainment, haircut, use of a car Free or reduced-cost room or board anywhere (SB, hometown) Free or reduced-cost merchandise or services Use of Athletics Department copy/fax machines, long distance telephone service, free use of a cell phone Special discount or credit on the purchase of an airline ticket Loan of money or co-signing of a note to arrange for a loan Receipt of complimentary admissions for your family or friends other than your comps or those of a teammate Sale or trade of your comps for merchandise, services or debt repayment Sale or trade of any items you’ve received for your participation in athletics (shoes, uniform, awards) Extra Benefits Support Staff Rules Education 2010

  9. 13.4.1.4 Responding to a PSA’s Request; ANY athletics staff member may respond to a PSA’s letter requesting information from the athletics department prior to the permissible contact date provided the written response does not include information that initiates the recruitment of the PSA or is related to the athletic programs Explanation of NCAA policy & referral to admissions Recruiting: PSA Contact Support Staff Rules Education 2010

September 1 of Junior Year June 15 after conclusion of sophomore year (mb, hockey) General Correspondence by Mail (All not to exceed 8 ½ x 11) Single Sheet Institutional Letterhead 1 side = no restrictions; 2nd side = blank, hand-written or typed text Additional Pages = plain white, black ink, text Attachments = plain white, black ink, not created for recruiting Envelope = Institution name, logo, blank on inside (9 x 12) ANY staff member may prepare general correspondence NO EXPRESS MAIL SERVICE Recruiting: Permissible Mailings Support Staff Rules Education 2010

  12. 13.4.1.1.2 An institution may not provide a printed Media Guide to a PSA, their parents/legal guardians, their educational institution, or any individual involved in their coaching May be provided in electronic format No Media Guide Supplement Can include other permissible items Can include logo NOTE: We can provide game programs (with posters removed) to PSAs during unofficial/official visits; Programs may NOT be mailed Recruiting: Media Guides Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  13. None of the following may occur: In-person contact with a representative of athletics interests, former athletes (on or off campus) – be safe & do not recruit Participation in required or arranged physical workouts involving any sport for which the prospect is being recruited Receipt of free or reduced-cost athletic gear Access to an automobile for use by the prospect or student host Personalized recruiting aids (e.g., personalized jerseys, audio/video scoreboard presentations, or game-day simulations) Recruiting: Official Visits Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  14. May be Express Mailed Call restrictions lifted after signing of NLI or receipt of financial deposit occurring on or after May 1 of senior year Attendance at practice/meetings after NLI National Letter of Intent Support Staff Rules Education 2010
  15. Should you be asked to autograph an item for a promotional or fundraising activity, you may do so only if: Prior written approval from the Athletic Compliance Office is obtained The item must benefit an institutional, charitable, educational, or non-profit organization Donation Requests Support Staff Rules Education 2010
