We are totally committed to the development of your child:- Academically Socially Emotionally…. and in their Safety Health Wellbeing Your child will be working in a ‘can do’ culture where we have high expectations of work and behaviour and ambition for them as individuals. We expect them to do their best and be the best theycan be.

  4. High levels of Literacy and Maths are important to us and so are all the other aspects of learning. We want to make a difference to our children and help them understand they can make a difference too - to themselves, to each other and to their environment.

WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO US? • TO CHALLENGE PUPILS OF ALL ABILITIES AND ASSIST THEM IN REACHING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL • TO PROVIDE A HAPPY SCHOOL, WITH A HIGH LEVEL OF PASTORAL CARE WHERE STAFF, PUPILS, PARENTS AND VISITORS FEEL SECURE, VALUED AND RESPECTED • TO CELEBRATE A SENSE OF SPIRITUALITY WITHIN A CHRISTIAN ETHOS • INVOLVE PUPILS IN THEIR OWN LEARNING • EMPHASISE TEAM WORK AND PROVIDE POSITIVE ROLE MODELS

WHAT’S IMPORTANT continued……… • ENCOURAGE PUPILS TO BE INVOLVED WITH AND INFLUENCE THEIR ENVIRONMENT • GUIDE PUPILS TO BECOME RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITY AND HAVE ASPIRATIONS FOR THEIR FUTURE • ENSURE PUPILS POSSESS A CLEAR SENSE OF MORAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SELF DISCIPLINE • DEVELOP A SENSE OF WONDER AT THE WORLD AROUND THEM • PROVIDE A RANGE OF EXTRA CURRICULAR AND EXTENDED SCHOOL ACTIVITIES TO ENRICH PUPILS’ EXPERIENCES • VALUE THE STRENGTHS OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL

Emotional Literacy • It’s not just what we do but how we do it • Well being of all members of the school community • Parent, pupil and staff voice • SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) • The environment If we aren’t in the right mind set to learn – if we’re distracted, uncomfortable or distressed, how can we expect learning to take place?

  9. If you don’t know where you’re going it’s unlikely you’ll end up there! We involve pupils in the path of their own learning through:- letting pupils know howthey’re progressing and what they need todo to improve sharing learningexperiences encouraging children to take responsibility and feel they have a ‘voice’ giving pupils the opportunity to apply what they have learnt to ‘real life’ situations

AWARDS AND INITIATIVES CONTINUED…. • STRONG LINKS WITH OUR LOCAL CHURCH AND COMMUNITY • CLOSE PARTNERSHIP WORKING WITH OTHER PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OUR AREA AND BEYOND • LINKED WITH A FRENCH SCHOOL – ANNUAL PUPIL VISIT • CHILDRENS CENTRE ON SITE • EXTENDED SCHOOLS • INVOLVED WITH THE WALKING BUS INITIATIVE PLUS OTHER LOCAL SCHEMES TO INCREASE THE FITNESS OF OUR PUPILS AND REDUCE TRAFFIC CONJESTION • HOST AND TAKE PART IN SPORTS EVENTS

  12. What are we working on this year? • Continuing to raise standards in English and Maths • Pupil ownership, accountability and aspiration • Active participation of pupils • Involving parents/carers in their children’s learning

PARENTS/CARERS AS PARTNERS • IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FEEL INVOLVED, SUPPORTED AND WELCOME • WE WANT YOU TO INVOLVE YOURSELF IN THE PATH OF YOUR CHILD’S LEARNING • YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO PLAY A PART IN OUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT WHAT WE DO • WE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS WE WANT TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YOU FROM THE VERY BEGINNING

  14. How to apply for a place at our school • No paper application forms, just a leaflet • Log in at www.kent.gov.uk/ola • You must choose 3 schools in priority order • If you need support come in and ask at our school office
