  3. Purpose of “Standards” • To provide basic guidelines for administering volunteer resources • To encourage professionalism & quality measures • To establish sound management practices

  4. Why should I Re-Certify?

  5. Top 5 Reasons to Re-Certify… • A sense of Continued Accomplishment • Enhanced Professional Development • Fulfilling your Potential • Maintain the profile of your position within your organization • Continue to proudly carry the CAVR Designation

  6. Re-Certification Criteria • Member in good standing with CAVR • Professional Development Hours • One paper • 1) Current challenges in the field of Volunteer Administration OR, • 2) Biggest challenge in administering volunteers and how you overcame it.

  7. Are you Ready? Next Steps… • Ensure your membership with CAVR is up-to-date • Go to www.cavrcanada.org to download certification forms and/or receive package from CAVR Certification Chair • Contact Certification Chair to confirm your ID number. • Ensure all requirements are met in the re-certification criteria before proceeding • Send papers &application fee to CAVR Chair of Certification • Papers to be disseminated to CAVR markers • Must be postmarked no later than December 31st • Certification awarded at National Conference in the presence of your peers and colleagues!!

Tips for keeping on track • Keep anything related to your re-certification into a file for easy retrieval at a later date!! • Take a “Professional Development” record to every workshop you attend and get signature • Get involved in volunteer work either on a committee or a board! • Register “your intent” as this will commit you to keep on going!
