  1. Elastomeric coating and Where to use it? Elastomeric coating is an above grade exterior wall or roof coating that is approximately 10 times thicker than paint. Elastomeric paint is a high build coating that is designed to protect masonry surfaces. An elastomeric coating may also be known as a latex coating or an acrylic latex. Elastomeric coatings are protective barriers that are applied on interior and exterior walls as wall paints. Elastomeric coatings can be water-based coatings and paints or acrylic latex paints. They are applied as a thick coat on concrete surfaces. Elastomeric coatings offer an alternative to exterior paint in many situations. They apply like paint but contain more solids, which give them greater flexibility and durability than traditional exterior paint. Elastomeric coatings go on like paint via brush, roller or sprayer. Characteristics of Elastomeric Coating • Blocks the open pores of concrete when the coat dries • Resists solvents and microorganisms • Good resistance against chalking, cracking, blistering, peeling and flaking • Adhesion strength • Retains color for long periods • Fast dry time with minimal odor • Smooth when applied on surfaces When the elastomeric coating is applied it is in liquid form, it completely dries, hardens and bonds to the structure and yet remains flexible, moving, bending and flexing as the structure underneath moves, bends and flexes Types of Elastomeric Coatings Water Based Water-based, acrylic elastomeric roof coatings are widely used over metal roofs and spray foam roofs by contractors and building owners performing a DIY restoration. They are best used on roofs that don’t pond water. Solvent Based Solvent-based elastomeric coatings have higher ponding water resistance and is more suitable for low slope or flat roofs. Solvent-based roof coatings have much better ponding water resistance than acrylic roof coatings. Where to use Elastomeric Coating Use elastomeric coatings on exterior elements, such as roofs, concrete walls and floors, Woods. Be careful when using it on wood siding or logs, which need to breathe. Any breach in the coating,

Elastomeric coatings penetrate very little, so surfaces should be prepared carefully. Fill cracks, dents, holes and voids with an appropriate filler. Be sure concrete, masonry and stucco are thoroughly cured and dry before applying. Advantage of using Elastomeric Coating • Longer lifespan • Heat resistant • Protects from wind driven rain • Elastomeric paint helps to fill hairline cracks • Resists solvents and microorganisms There are many Elastomeric coating manufacturers in india .
