Cic subcommittee issue 493 assignments for billing collection b c service providers

CIC SubcommitteeIssue 493: Assignments for Billing & Collection (B&C) Service Providers

    • Carrier Identification Codes (CICs) are used by B&Cs to facilitate billing for smaller access purchasers that do not have direct agreements with LECs for billing.

    • Alternate Billing Entity Codes (ABECs) should be used for billing & collections purposes, but CICs are needed when ABECs are not technically feasible.

    • Modifications have been made to the CIC Assignment Guidelines to allow B&Cs to retain and continue to be assigned CICs for billing & collections purposes.

    • The assignment to a B&C Company will require assignment of Feature Group D and a matching Feature Group B CIC.
