  7. REAL work??? Highlights • SRS light source • HELIOS • FELs (originated project work in the UK in 1978) • DIAMOND • ASTeC and Cockcroft (4GLS, EMMA, ERLP • ILC • Neutrino factory Family ???

  8. To Finish • Mike is a recognised, renowned world expert in the field of electron beam physics and all devices which use them. • He has a rare combination of technical expertise, theoretical understanding and management abilities • He has spearheaded the renaissance of accelerator science and technology in the UK by playing a leading role in the initial bidding for the Cockcroft institute, and as director of ASTeC

  9. Thank you, Mike

  10. He personally originated Free Electron Laser project work in the UK (in 1978) • He has been closely associated with a large number of major international FEL projects • He continues to promote FEL schemes, most recently in the 4GLS project. • He has had a major advisory role to the EU and to ESRFI on FEL topics, and led the European consortium for a successful EU-FP6 bid (EUROFEL).
