  4. Our Survey said: (1) • 10 Members responded • 6 felt time spent was about right, BUT 3 felt more time should be spent. • 5 said more meetings, 3 said review or increase delegations • 9 agreed with FA meetings being in the evening • 6 said a central location would be easier BUT 6 said meetings should still rotate • 6 (as 1st/2nd preference) said meetings should last until business is concluded BUT • 7 (as 1st/2nd preference) said not more than 3 hours • Survey not conclusive on timings of Committee Meetings

  5. Our Survey said: (2)

  6. Our Survey said: (3) Comments from Members • need to consider how we get active & committed members maybe reduce nos - 2 -3 per UA 15/18 total • more briefings to understand in greater detail work of RBFA • mtgs & debate should have more structure • Mtgs should not last beyond 10.30 pm

  9. Options

  10. What do we need ? • Chairman • Vice Chairman • Committee Chairmen • Appointments - RCC & RBFRS Training Ltd • Group Leaders ? • Champions ?

  11. Committees • Standards – statutory requirement What else ? • Executive or ???? ie a Management Committee • IRMP – most CFAs don’t have a specific committee - is this wise ? • O/S – most CFAs don’t have O/S as not a Cabinet system BUT they DO have Audit and Performance Review . Could we combine Audit and O/S ?? • Community Safety Forum – Is this needed ? Could we have a Champion ? • Property Resources etc Committee – Doesn’t operate effectively BUT FA needs to take control over Asset Management – Establish Strategic Asset Management Committee ??

  12. What do we look like ?

  13. What could we look like ?

  14. QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS,QUESTIONS • DO WE THINK THE FA IS FIT FOR PURPOSE ? • IS 25 THE RIGHT SIZE ? • IF NOT, WHAT ABOUT 22 ? OR 16 ? • ARE WE HAPPY WITH THE COMMITTEE STRUCTURE ? • IF NOT, WHAT WOULD WE CHANGE ? • WHAT WILL WE ASK CMO TO PRESENT TO OUR NEXT MEETING ON 23rd MARCH ? AND THEN TO SPECIAL FIRE AUTHORITY 16 OR 20 APRIL ?
