What Does Religion Mean To Our Society? • Humans have a deep desire to understand their reason for existing and other mysteries of life. • Religion has helped many to explain things such as: • The origin of life • The existence of a supernatural power • The purpose of life • The relationship between divinity & humanity • The relationship between the individual & her/his community • The end of life

  5. What Does Religion Mean To Our Society?(continued) • Religion also helps a civilization to set standards for the community. • Decide what is valuable. • Set guidelines for behavior.

  6. Connection Between Religion and Literature • Sacred literature educates and bonds people. • Sacred beliefs show up in ordinary stories, songs, poems, and other types of literature.
