  4. SABER VS. CONOCER Both saber and conocer mean to know. • Conocer means to know, to meet, or to be familiar with a person or a place. Use the “personal a” when referring to a person. Yo conozco a Jay Leno. (I know Jay Leno.) ¿Conoces las playas de Galicia? (Are you familiar with the beaches of Galicia?) • Saber means to know a fact or information about something or someone. It also means to know how to do something when used with an infinitive. Quiero saber que me amas. (I want to know that you love me.) Amparo sabe hablar francés. (Amparo knows how to speak French.)
