  1. New Directions PCD is actively working on the last link – getting important information to and from the clinician – between the Alarm Manager and the Alarm Communicator. It enables selection of devices (such as pagers, phones, and visual displays) that best meet the needs of clinicians, assuring they will work together. This will facilitate prioritization, provide for reminders and escalation, improve patient care and workflow. The PCD thanks Amcom, Ascom, Hill-Rom, Philips Emergin, and Polycom for their commitment to the development of standards-based interoperable communications. The proprietary systems shown today demonstrate some of the benefits of the solution. Feel free to ask how interoperability will improve the efficiency, effectiveness and cost of systems when the PCD profile is complete and implemented.
