  2. What is it? • Connecting two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously (more on this on a demo day!) • Uses … many • Meetings • PhD defense • Interviews • Remote experts • Classes held between locations

Videoconferencing group meeting • Meeting 23 January 2008 brought together vc owners • Aim to share and learn about … • room set-up and design • which groups offer use of their installations • what demands your equipment and set-up can't meet and where IST may be able to offer help or a service • what shared central services may be useful • network, firewall, multicast, and other possible technical issues

Possible central services • “Support” (need to define what we can provide) • A "guide to a successful room installation" (dimensions, location of equipment, lighting, audio, etc. ) to duplicate in new rooms • Help troubleshooting and support • Multipoint Conferencing Unit • Support for multicasting
