  1. Story of Adam عليه السلام Part 4

  2. Shaytaan Whispers to Adam (120) • Then Shaytan whispered to him, saying: "O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away'') he caused them to fall through deception.

  3. Lies of Shaytaan • ﴿وَقَالَ﴾ He (Shaytan) said) uttering lies and falsehood, • ﴿مَا نَهَـكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنْ هَـذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ إِلاَ أَن تَكُونَا مَلَكَيْنِ﴾ • “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels...'') meaning, so that you do not become angels or dwell here for eternity. Surely, if you eat from this tree, you will attain both, he said. • ﴿وَقَاسَمَهُمَآ﴾ swore to them both by Allah, saying, • ﴿إِنِّي لَكُمَا لَمِنَ النَّـصِحِينَ﴾ • ("Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both.'') for I was here before you and thus have better knowledge of this place. It is a fact that the believer in Allah might sometimes become the victim of deceit. Qatadah commented on this Ayah, "Shaytan swore by Allah, saying, `I was created before you, and I have better knowledge than you. Therefore, follow me and I will direct you.'''

  4. They Ate From the Tree • ﴿فَدَلَّـهُمَا بِغُرُورٍ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا الشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَتُهُمَا • (22. So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became visible to them • ﴿وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ﴾ • (And they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise.) "Using fig leaves.'' This statement has an authentic chain of narration leading to Ibn `Abbas. Mujahid said that they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise, "Making them as a dress (or garment).''

  5. Allah Called Out to Them • وَنَادَاهُمَا رَبُّهُمَآ أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمَا عَن تِلْكُمَا الشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُل لَّكُمَآ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَـنَ لَكُمَا عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ • And their Lord called out to them (saying): "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaytan is an open enemy unto you'') • Humans are prone to forget things • وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَا إِلَى آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْمًا (115) • 115. and indeed we made a Covenant with Adam before, but He forgot, and we found on his part no firm will-power.

  6. Adam’s عليه السلام Response • He was humble and repentant • وَعَصَى آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَغَوَى (121) ثُمَّ اجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَى (122) • Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so He went astray.122. Then his Lord chose him, and turned to Him with Forgiveness, and gave Him Guidance. (37) • 37. Then Adam received from his Lord Words . and his Lord pardoned Him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the one who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful.

  7. What Dua Did Adam عليه السلام and His Wife Make? We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.'') "These are the words that Adam received from his Lord.

We said: "Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Hudan (guidance) from Me, and whoever follows My guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.) (39. But those who disbelieve and deny Our Ayat(ـ such are the dwellers of the Fire. They shall abide therein forever.'')

  9. Ta Ha 123-124 • ﴿بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ﴾ • Some of you as enemies to others.) ﴿2:36﴾ He (Allah) was saying this to Adam and his progeny and Iblis and his progeny. Concerning Allah's statement, • ﴿فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّى هُدًى﴾ • Then if there comes to you guidance from Me,) Abu Al-`Aliyyah said, "This (guidance) means the Prophets, the Messengers and the evidence.'' • ﴿فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَاىَ فَلاَ يَضِلُّ وَلاَ يَشْقَى﴾ • Then whoever follows My guidance he shall neither go astray nor shall be distressed.) Ibn `Abbas said, "He will not be misguided in this life and he will not be distressed in the Hereafter.''

  10. Harms of Turning Away From Guidance • ﴿وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى﴾ • But whosoever turns away from My Reminder,) This means, "Whoever opposes my command and what I have revealed to My Messenger, then he has turned away from it, neglected it and taken his guidance from other than it.'' • ﴿فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكاً﴾ • verily, for him is a life of hardship,) meaning, his life will be hard in this world. He will have no tranquility and no expanding of his breast (ease). Rather, his chest will be constrained and in difficulty due to his misguidance. Even if he appears to be in comfort outwardly and he wears whatever he likes, eats whatever he likes and lives wherever he wants, he will not be happy. For verily, his heart will not have pure certainty and guidance. He will always be in agitation, confusion and doubt.

O Children of Adam! Let not Shaytan deceive you, as he got your parents out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiment, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and his tribe see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayatin friends of those who do not believe.

  12. Death of Adam عليه السلام • Abdullah Ibn Al Iman Ahmad IbnHanbal narrated that UbaiIbnKab said: "When Adam's death was near, he said to his children: "O my children, indeed I feel an appetite for the fruits of Paradise." • So they went away searching for what Adam had requested. They met with the angels, who had with them his shroud and what he was to be embalmed with. They said to them: "O Children of Adam, what are you searching for? What do you want? Where are you going?" • They said: "Our father is sick and has an appetite for the fruits of Paradise.«the angels said to them: "Go back, for your father is going to meet his end soon." • So they returned (with the angels) and when Eve saw them she recognized them. She tried to hide herself behind Adam. He said to her. "Leave me alone. I came before you; do not go between me and the angels of my Lord.' So they took his soul, embalmed and wrapped him, dug the grave and laid him in it. • They prayed on him and put him in his grave, saying: 'O Children of Adam, this is your tradition at the time of death.""
